Yosemite Climber Falls To Death After Proposal

Brad Parker
The 36-year-old climber and yoga instructor said it was "the happiest days of his life" shortly before plunging to his death.

A veteran rock climber has died in a fall in Yosemite National Park just hours after asking his girlfriend to marry him.

Brad Parker, a 36-year-old from Northern California, fell from Matthes Crest, considered one of the most difficult peaks to scale in the park.
His girlfriend, Jainee Dial, had accepted his marriage proposal earlier in a climb to the summit of nearby Cathedral Peak.

Mr Parker had completed the Matthes Crest climb in the past. His father, Bill Parker, said fatigue from the previous climb might have been a factor in the fall.

Mr Parker appeared on a cover of California Climber magazine in 2012.

He worked as a yoga instructor and was an avid surfer and mountain biker. He also enjoyed backpacking and fly fishing trips in the Sierra Nevada with his father and brother, Mat.Brad Parker
